{Spotlight Project} Shirley's Stamping Through Stencils

Hello! I've been stamping through stencils today to see what effect I could get. For this technique the stencil needs to have cutouts large enough for your stamped image to stamp through, and it's easiest if you don't mount the stamp onto a block, so that you can squish it into the cutout.

I taped my piece of mixed media card onto the back of the stencil and used the newsprint stamp from the Mixed Media Grunge set, and stamped it into the cutouts. I overstamped without re-inking to fill in gaps and build up the image.

Next, I used the bubblewrap stamp to add colour. By overstamping without re-inking, I got some lighter shades. I drew in the stalks with a fineliner.

I removed the stencil and added some second-generational stamping in the top-right and bottom-left corners. I didn't like the starkness of the black pen stems so I added some Liquid Pearls, and also added some Liquid Pearls dots and Stickles dots to the flower centres.

I just happened to have blue thread in my mini sewing machine, so I added some stitching and a sentiment, mounted the panel onto my base card and added a strip of textured card.

Here's another look at the finished card:
